Somalia Inducted into the hall of shame for rigging elections.
The Somali Goverment continues to rig the federal elections in broad daylight to the dismay of the Somali people. In the light of shameful elections and general lawlessness, Somalia is inducted in the hall of shame and many influential politicians have publicly declared that the Somali people will go to Al Shabab for governance.
Remember the Somali Goverment hijacked the elections of Hirshabelle, Southwest, and Galmudug states, while Jubbaland and Puntland people have fended their states off from being aggressively and corruptly hijacked like other three states.
The blueprint of the somali Government for the elections of the house of the people ( the lower house) turns out to be. the disgraceful election of the Somaliland MPs which started with the election of Deputy Prime minister as the first Member of the house of the people of the federal parliament. Ironically, Deputy PM Minister Mahdi Mohamed Guled “Khadar” didn’t resign from his cabinet position six months before election date as legally required, because he was not. member of parliament and was cabinet member of the caretaker government administering the election process.
Taking into consideration Farmaajo’s dismissive behavior towards democracy and his alliance with radical groups, the premeditated plan to rig the very much delayed elections using the security forces, Qatar money, and public resources under his control and after dismantling all government checks and accountability bodies and rules through corruption and use of force, it’s all possible that those abuses and crimes would usher in an era of dangerously centralized state power, imperiling Somalia’s modest democratic gains since the end of civil war in 1990s.
As of today, there are no credible efforts for fair and free election preparations indicating if there will ever be an election happening in Somalia in the near future. That will probably guarantee the inevitable happening of another popular uprising against illegitimate government as in 1990 which transitioned into civil war for power and security struggle in Somalia.
The international community has no time and excuse for not preventing. such imminent political and security disaster after 13 years of peacekeeping and state building intervention in Somalia.
Urgent and clear decisions are required before the Somali people rise against return to brutal dictatorship in Somalia with the support of international community.
Somalia embattled President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble have agreed to normalise their relations after the international community demanded the appeasement of farmajo who fomented the crisis to protect his ally former director of National intelligence service (NISA), suspended from his powerful position following the suspected killing of Ikram Tahlil Farah under his direction. The agreement between the embattled president Farmajo and prime minister Roble didn’t change the public concern for the uncerain future of Somalia but has practically. shelved the investigation of criminal case of the missing NISA officer Ikram Tahlil.
The agreement between the two leaders came after Roble visited Doha, Qatar sponsor of Farmajo and Fahad Yaasin. It’s believed that Roble has received special gifts and other incentives to reconcile and work with farmajo and Fahad who are Qatar agents in Somalia. Recently, the New York Times reported that US Spy agency — the C.I.A. — opposed a proposed sanction against Fahad Yassin for his role in the political turmoil created by the unlawful two year term extension of president Farmajo in April 2021. The C.I.A. protection has encouraged the commission of multiple heinous crimes against the Somali people and state.
The two leaders have been incommunicado in the past three months because has emphatically opposed the investigation of the case of Ikram Tahlil suspected of being killed mysteriously by NISA agents with the knowledge of Fahad Yaasin. The case of the young woman is tormenting public conscience. It’s suspected that Qatar offered irresistible incentives to Rooble to work for the rehabilitation of Fahad Yaasin and re-election of Farmaajo.
The power struggle between the It seems that despite public postures, PM Roble agreed to slaw, delay, and withdraw from court process and empower President Farmaajo’s. appointed five-member committee to handle the case for closure.
